Description:

22.5 hectares ( 55.6 acres) for sale on the north west coast of Golfo Dulce, Península de Osa, Costa Rica.

Located close to the Corcovado National Park, known as one of the most diverse places on earth. Most of the area has been managed as a biological reserve. The buyer can also receive 2.5 hectares under permit of use (“permiso de uso”) from the local municipality paying a small amount annually.

Approximately 80% of the property is cover with primary and secondary lowland rain forest. The remaining area is covered with a teak plantation, palm trees for oil, bamboo and more than 40 species of fruit trees in production.

The reserve is a ten-minute walk to Golfo Dulce, which boasts a beautiful tranquil beach, where you can kayak or canoe from the coast of the property without the busy crowds of a tourist beach.

The property has easy access to a widespread area of mangroves, which creates an extensive area for conservation of many species of flora and fauna, terrestrial and marine, some of which are endemic to the south-west region of Costa Rica and western Panama; charming hummingbirds, the Yellow Billed Cotinga; the endangered Turquoise Cotinga; and Scarlet Macaws, can be spotted easily throughout the area.

Within the property there is a well-preserved old house that has been renovated and a new edification, built for delivering environmental education programs. This building has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a classroom, an office, a kitchen and dining room. Importantly, the entire property has both electricity and running water.

The grounds of the reserve have a swimming pool as well as gravel-covered trails and a small river that flows across most of the area. The reserve is located a mille from the brand new road to Puerto Jiménez, where you have a hospital, two banks, restaurants, supermarkets, bus service and daily flights to San José.
