Nestled in the valley of Copey de Dota, Los Santos region, this charming eco lodge is centered around beautiful gardens, mountains, and views of the tropical cloud forest. At less than 2 hours from San Jose, and only 45 minutes from Los Quetzales National Park, this birding paradise offers many activities for birders, photographers and other nature lovers.
The region is characterized for its abundant ecology and biodiversity, and includes 3 different protected áreas : Los Santos Forest Reserve , Los Quetzales National Park and Las Vueltas Biological Reserve. In addition, the Dota Region is recognized for the highest quality coffee in the world.
The freshness and pureness of the air and the natural environment makes this area an ideal place for those who seek peace, contact with nature in a friendly and safe rural community of Copey with around 300 habitants. At 1,850 meters above sea level, the temperatures averages 70-80 degrees during the day and 50’s at night.
This established small family-owned eco lodge is well-known birding facility with more than 200 species of birds listed, among them the Resplendent Quetzal.
Rounding off the daily experiences and activities, guests enjoy being surrounded by hummingbirds on the patio with morning coffee and the evenings in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine. A gentle bubbling stream from the spring flows near the trail along the cabins, and all of the cabins have a deck or patio to enjoy the views and the birds.
The location offers excellent possibilities to enjoy the Pacific Coast, either on a day trip, or on a loop tour (mountains, coast).
There are no big tourist developments in the region. The nearby rural communities are authentic Costa Rica and fun to experience. People are very friendly.
